What One Thing Would You Change In Your Life?

I know, you have several things you'd like to change. One thing isn't nearly enough. Altering your life can be a constant process. Even so, by picking one thing you will be forced to prioritize what is really important to you at this moment.

This is a tough question. I had to give it a lot of thought. Physical conditioning, missed experiences, strengthening my important relationships, working harder to build up this blog, still worrying too much about money, choosing easy over hard....I have plenty to pick from.

Of course, the choice really has to be within the realm of reality. No matter how much I might enjoy it, I will never be a professional baseball player or pro golfer. I cannot break the world record for high jumps. I am not going to the Olympics (except as a spectator). That 50 foot cabin cruiser is never going to sail with me at the helm.

Since I think we are all interested in each other's answers, I am going to keep my part of this post very short. This is a bit …

Possibly Future Hologram Smartphone Concept

Your future smartphone could be entirely voice activated, displaying your text messages and other info with holograms. At least, that's the idea behindAlo, a new smartphone concept that imagines a touchscreen-less smartphone.

Alo- Created by French designer Jerome Olivet, ditches the typical smartphone display and instead the voice activated phone will project holograms from its camera to show you messages, or let you watch videos.

The core of the device is molded aluminum alloy, the outer shell is a "gelatinous, supple and natural envelope that perfectly fits in your hand.". Alo will come with an AI assistant that will respond to users voice commands and learn each users speach patterns.

Need a smartphone to hold you off until the holographic market takes off? Rent a smartphone today!

What Gets Better As We Age?

Aging brings a new awareness of limitations. Physical and health-related issues are part of the reality of living. Just a few years ago, things we could do without much strain are more difficult. We must work harder to remain fit and energetic.

At the same time, several aspects actually improve. In meaningful ways, our life can become richer and easier as we turn each page of the calendar. LIfe's experiences help us in very important ways.

As we move through the last few days of the first month of a new year, let's look at some of the things that tend to get better as we age:

1. We are less concerned with comparing ourselves to others. By now, we know ourselves well enough to stop constantly comparing ourselves to others. We know there are people who are better looking than us, have more money or fame than we do, are taller, or thinner, more athletic or smarter and there is nothing we can do to change those differences. Importantly, we care less about any of that as measures of o…

Friendship and Retirement: Not a Simple Combination

Maybe it was because I worked for myself for so many years. Maybe it was because I tried working for big corporations and found I didn't play well in a big sandbox. Maybe it is just part of my personality. Whatever the reason, I never had very many close friends.

My business as a consultant required lots of acquaintances: clients, industry contacts, friendly competitors, and suppliers. But, those were not the type of relationships that led to enduring friendship. Because I was on the road for many days each year, I never developed many close friendships on a social level at home, either. My wife will admit she wasn't much better.

Unfortunately, I carried that situation into retirement. If Betty and I wanted to do something with another couple, we would scramble to think of who to invite. Usually, that meant we would involve family, or do things as just the two of us.

One unexpected benefit of blogging was the start of several on-line, virtual, friendships. Regular readers became…

iPhone Keeps Restarting: (How to Fix)

A New iPhone keeps Restarting? If you got a new iPhone recently and are eligible for replacement without burning a hole in your pocket, the first thing that you do when you are stuck with an iPhone that keeps rebooting, shutting off or freezing is to head to the store and see if you can get it replaced. Older Models, Out of Replacement Period etc. For the rest of the crowd that isn’t as lucky, continue reading the article. My iPhone keeps restarting! What do I do? We noted that this problem occurs predominantly in bit older iPhones i.e. iPhone 4s, 5, 5c, 5s models that upgrade to iOS 8 or later. Many readers also reported that iPhone 6 and 6 Plus reboot randomly after upgrading to iOS 9. My first reaction was – must be a hardware-software incompatibility issue. But wait. Apple isn’t Android. They know what they’re doing and iPhone 4s does run iOS 8 smoothly. Well, that’s not the point anyway. We’re trying to fix an issue here so here are the ways, in which you can try to fix your iPhone tha…

Six Things That Will be Different in 10 years

The end of an old year tends to bring out the predictor urge in many of us. We look back at the 12 months that is now in the history books and wonder what the new year will bring.

Instead of looking ahead only a few months, I thought it would be fun to leap forward a decade. What will be different in 2027? What things that we take for granted today may not exist in their present form in 10 years? Here are a handful that might come to pass:

1)Black Friday will have passed away from lack of interest and the steady shift to Internet shopping. Already Americans are buying more online during the holidays than at brick and mortar stores. That trend will only accelerate. The idea of rushing out to shop right after Thanksgiving dinner, or getting in line at 5:00 AM for a chance to save on a PlayStation will be a distant memory. Such a shift will also mean the end to many of the physical stores that populate our malls and strip centers.

2)Retirement will be later for the majority of folks. No lon…

How To Fix iOS 10 Bluetooth Problems On iPhone (Tips)

Here are tips to fix iOS 10 Bluetooth issues and problems on iPhone, including iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. It’s taken a little while but we now have our first real show-stopping bug for iOS 10, and it revolves around the way Bluetooth works on iPhones or, as the case may actually be, the way it doesn’t work. An ever-increasing number of users have been reporting of late that they are in fact experiencing issues where devices running iOS 10 are either refusing to correctly pair with accessories such as speakers or headphones, or when they do pair, the connection is far from stable.

Now, we’re sure there will be some out there that will point to this being a general Bluetooth issue and that the standard is not fit for purpose, meaning Apple’s decision to remove the headphone jack from the iPhone 7 is ill-advised at best. We’d argue that Bluetooth is just fine, except where software issues like this come into play. We expect Apple to get to grips with this just like it would any other bug,…

New Opera Made Web Browser Called Neon

Does your Rented Computer need a  makeover? Well Opera released a new web browser today called Neon that’s meant to try out a bunch of untested design ideas. Neon isn’t close to being ready to replace your main web browser it’s being called a “concept browser” — but it does have some neat ideas that are fun to try out and, in some cases, you can imagine becoming part of a major browser one day.

Neon's homepage looks far different than any other browser's. Although it still has shortcuts to bookmarks and top websites, they are displayed as floating bubbles that are on top of your desktop wallpaper. There is no obvious search engine bar either; there is just a line above all of the floating balls asking you to type something in.

At the point the browser is at now it is too slow and odd to actually become a main browser for most people, but Opera isn't exactly shooting for that. Its real goal is to experiment with new ideas and test new never before seen features. One of the sm…

A Satisfying Retirement on a Limited Budget

It is easier to lead a satisfying retirement if you have few financial worries. While money certainly doesn't buy happiness, few would argue that your options for living how and where you choose are more likely to happen the fatter your investment portfolio. So, this post isn't for you.

On the other side of the issue, much of the popular press would have us believe we are doomed to a future of diminishing opportunities and darkening skies. I disagree. Yes, way too many seniors have been put in a very tough position by recent events and they will struggle. They may have to choose between buying some medicines and skipping meals. For the richest country in the world to allow that to happen is, in my view, criminal.

So, who am I writing for today? This is for those who have a retirement income that is sufficient for our needs and allows for satisfying an occasional want. The Great Recession may still affect what we can afford and how we live.

We have likely downsized some of our exp…

iMessage Error “Waiting for Activation” on iPhone (how to fix )

Tired of iMessage waiting for activation error in iOS 9 or iOS 8.x on iPhone? Or is it just draining the last ounce of patience left in you? Despite our ‘been there done that’ experience, we’re equally skeptic about how to activate iMessage. Sometimes it works just perfectly, but sometimes it drives us crazy. There are quite a lot of fixes recommended almost everywhere but most of it doesn’t work. That’s what prompted us to test with a lot of iPhones and we ended up activating iMessage successfully.

Before You Start To Fix iMessage “Waiting for Activation” Issue on iPhone running iOS 9 or iOS 8.x: Before you start trying out all these methods to get iMessage activated, you’ll need to sort these things out: Make sure in the Phone app, you’ve got your number listed.
